If clips or brackets hold your gutters check for broken clips and loose or missing screws.
If your gutter is still basically sound the easiest way to stop the leak is by covering the damaged area with roof and gutter repair tape available at home centers and hardware stores.
Complete the project by securing the repaired downspout within the gutter system.
The screws holding the old guttering brackets or clips may be rusted into place.
If thick bolts have been used to connect the guttering you will need to use a hacksaw to saw the bolts.
Use new screws for re anchoring the straps.
Apply plastic roofing cement step 3.
Please replace the broken or rusted clips and straps rather than trying to repair them.
Check the downspout step 4.
Clean the downspout joints and replace the gaskets step 5.
Any repair or maintenance job should begin with cleaning the area of all debris.
If you happen to find minor rust damage during your gutter inspection you can easily scrub it away with a wire brush.

Gutter leaks usually start at rusty spots or seams that have opened up because of expansion and contraction.
