Removing chrome door handle covers.

When i got the truck it had the chrome plastic covers over the handle and the bucket. I was told a heat gun would blis. And from the looks of them they weren t taken care of very well and i am thinking about just taking them off. What i would like to do is remove all the chrome pieces from the truck as well the badges.

The thing around the handle the truck is an 01 silverado. Mirrors handles grille bumper and eventually the wheels. I put 3m chrome door handles on a long time ago. But now i just don t like them any more.

Has anyone ever removed the chrome covers off and if so did it damage the paint underneath on the mirror covers or handles. Discussion starter 1 dec 16 2013. I don t want to spend the cash for new handles if i can avoid it. I wanna take both of them off or at least the bucket.
